The flag is obligatory only for ships and yachts (registered craft) and not for boats;

Regulations state that these units simply “put up the national flag” and that therefore it need not necessarily be “hoisted”, as happens on merchant ships.

Therefore, the flag may be put up where it is most convenient in that there is no requirement as to a specific location.
